Comal
Comal is located on Forsyth Street in Manhattan’s Lower East Side in New York, one of the city’s oldest neighbourhoods and a major culinary hub. The restaurant’s name comes from the comal, an ancient and versatile flat griddle essential in Central and South America, used to sear meat, cook tortillas and toast spices.
Opened in June 2025, Comal melds the contemporary spirit of Mexico City’s adventurous dining scene with New York’s resilience. Menus are built around local peak-season produce from America’s northeast, thoughtfully grown and sourced from small farms, alongside sustainably caught seafood and heritage meats, blended with chiles, spices and ingredients from across Mexico.
With just 40 seats, Comal has been created as a welcoming, accessible neighbourhood restaurant, holding tables each service for last-minute reservations and local walk-ins.
