John and Desiree Chantarasak
John and Desiree Chantarasak are the dynamic duo behind AngloThai, a Michelin-starred restaurant in the heart of Marylebone.
John, born in Liverpool, grew up surrounded by multicultural influences. His early exposure to his mother’s inventive cooking ignited his passion for food. After a music career and a transformative food journey across the U.S., John trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Bangkok, where his love for Thai cuisine deepened. He later refined his skills at Som Saa, blending traditional Thai techniques with British ingredients.
Desiree, raised in Windsor, developed a love for hospitality through her family’s welcoming home. After a successful career in graphic design, Desiree found her true calling in the world of wine. She trained at WSET and began pairing wines with John’s evolving dishes. Together, they launched AngloThai through pop-ups and residencies before opening their permanent restaurant in 2024.
Now, as co-owners, John leads the kitchen while Desiree heads the front-of-house and wine program. Their shared vision and dedication to connecting Thai and British flavors has earned them widespread acclaim, culminating in AngloThai’s Michelin star in 2025.
